Why Fleas and Ticks Are a Big Deal Around Here

East Texas has the perfect environment for fleas and ticks – warm weather, humidity, lots of vegetation, and plenty of wildlife carrying them around.

The Two Types of Termite Protection We Offer

Ticks

Carry Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis, and other nasty illnesses. They hang out in tall grass, wooded areas, and brush waiting for a host to walk by.

Dogs and cats pick them up outside and bring them inside. Or they hitch a ride on you after a hike or yard work.

Fleas

Reproduce insanely fast. One female flea can lay 50 eggs a day. Those eggs fall off your pet and land in the carpet, furniture, and bedding.

Within weeks, you've got hundreds or thousands of fleas in different life stages throughout your house. And they bite humans too – not just pets. Here's what people don't know. The adult fleas you see only make up 5% of the population. The eggs make up 50%, larvae 35% and pupae make up 10%. Since 95% of the population is in immature stages in the environment and the eggs and pupae are protected from the insecticides, vacuuming and growth regulators are key factors in the success of the treatments. And they bite humans too – not just pets.

Flea and Tick Treatment for Your Yard

If fleas have already infested your house, outdoor treatment alone won’t cut it. You need to treat
inside too.
Our Indoor Flea Treatment Process
We treat carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, baseboards, pet bedding areas – anywhere fleas
and their eggs are hiding.
We use products that kill adult fleas AND contain insect growth regulators (IGRs) that stop
larvae from developing into adults.
This breaks the life cycle. Critical for long-term control.
What You Need to Do Before Indoor Treatment
Have pets treated with vet recommended medications, no over the counter products. Vacuum
thoroughly (then throw away the vacuum bag outside). Vacuuming is the key to a successful
treatment.
Wash all pet bedding and any linens that touch the floor.

Why You’ll Still See Fleas After Treatment (And Why That’s Normal)

Fleas life cycle is every 21 days. We have to get ahead of their life cycle. Flea pupae are
protected inside a cocoon. No insecticide can penetrate it. They can stay in that cocoon for
weeks or even months, waiting for the right conditions to emerge.

After treatment, vibrations from vacuuming or foot traffic stimulate them to hatch. They emerge
and contact the treatment we applied. Then they die.
So seeing fleas for 3 weeks after treatment doesn’t mean it didn’t work – it means it’s working
exactly as it should.

If you’re still seeing lots of fleas after 3 weeks, are vacuuming and have treated the pets with vet
prescribed medication, we’ll come back and retreat. We will also see if there is a secondary
problem such as rodents or wildlife re introducing fleas.

Treating Your Pets – We Can’t Do That Part

We treat your house and yard. Your vet treats your pets.

Make sure your dog or cat is on a flea and tick preventative from the vet. If they’re not, they’ll just keep bringing fleas and ticks back inside after we treat.

This is a team effort – we handle the environment, you handle the pets.

Tick Prevention and Treatment

Tick treatment focuses on the yard – that’s where they live and wait for hosts.

We can’t eliminate every tick (especially if you’ve got woods or fields nearby), but we can dramatically reduce the population around your house.

Best Practices for Tick Prevention

Keep grass mowed short. Ticks don't like open, sunny areas.

Clear brush and leaf litter. Ticks love hiding in that stuff.

Create a barrier of wood chips or gravel between your lawn and wooded areas.

Treat pets with vet-approved tick prevention.

Check yourself and your kids after being outside – especially after hiking or playing in tall grass.

Flea and Tick Control Across Our Service Areas

Whether you’re in Crockett, Palestine, Huntsville, Conroe, or near Lake Livingston, fleas and ticks are a problem during warm months.

Properties near woods or with a lot of wildlife activity see more ticks. Areas with stray cats or heavy rodent populations see more fleas.

We adjust our treatment approach based on your specific property and what you’re dealing with.

When to Start Flea and Tick Treatment

Fleas and ticks are active from spring through fall – roughly March through November in East Texas.

Peak season is late spring and summer when it’s hot and humid.

If you’re already seeing fleas or ticks, start treatment immediately. If you’re being proactive, start in early spring before populations explode.

How Much Does Flea and Tick Treatment Cost?

Depends on property size and severity. Yard treatment is priced by square footage. Indoor treatment depends on the size of your home.

We’ll give you a clear quote after seeing your property. No hidden fees or surprise charges.

Keeping Fleas and Ticks Away Long-Term

Once we've knocked them down, maintenance is key:

Continue monthly yard treatments during flea and tick season.

Keep pets on preventative medication year-round.

Maintain your yard – keep grass short, clear brush, reduce wildlife attractants.

Vacuum regularly and wash pet bedding frequently.

Prevention is way easier (and cheaper) than dealing with a full-blown infestation.
