WILDLIFE REMOVAL & EXCLUSION IN EAST TEXAS

Get Wildlife Out — and Keep Them Out

Hearing something moving around in your attic? Finding damage around your roofline?
Seeing raccoons, squirrels, or opossums around your property?

Wildlife in or around your home isn’t just a nuisance — it’s a health and safety hazard. They cause structural damage, contaminate insulation, chew wires, and carry diseases. The longer they’re in there, the worse the damage gets.

We handle wildlife removal and exclusion across East Texas. Get them out, seal up entry points, and make sure they can’t come back.

The Wildlife Problems We Handle

Raccoons

Smart, strong, and destructive. They tear into attics, destroy insulation, and leave a significant mess behind. Raccoons carry rabies, leptospirosis, and roundworms — both serious health risks to people and pets.

Squirrels

Chew through wood, vents, and siding to get into attics. Once inside, they gnaw on wires, creating a real fire hazard, and damage insulation. Active during the day, so you’ll hear them moving around above you.

Opossums

Usually found under decks, sheds, or crawlspaces. Not aggressive, but they carry fleas and ticks and can damage ductwork or insulation.

Bats

Protected under Texas law, so removal has to be done carefully and legally. Bats carry rabies and their droppings (guano) can cause histoplasmosis, a serious respiratory illness. Requires specialized exclusion methods — you cannot simply trap and remove bats.

Skunks

Burrow under foundations, sheds, or porches. Obvious problem if they spray. Difficult to handle without getting sprayed yourself — that’s where we come in.

Armadillos

Dig up lawns looking for grubs and insects, and create burrows around foundations. They’re also a carrier of leprosy, which is rare but a real risk.

How Wildlife Gets Into Your Home

Inspection and Assessment

We start by figuring out exactly what you’ve got and where they’re getting in. We walk the exterior looking for entry points, damage, tracks, and droppings. We check the attic or crawlspace for nesting areas and active signs. We identify the species — because that determines the trapping and exclusion approach — and give you a clear plan before any work starts.

Trapping and Removal

We set live traps based on the species and situation, baited appropriately, and check them regularly. Once trapped, we relocate the animal when legal and appropriate, or dispose of it humanely according to state regulations.

For bats, we use one-way exclusion devices that allow them to exit but not re-enter. Trapping bats is illegal — exclusion is the only lawful method. And timing matters: there are blackout periods during bat maternity season when exclusion cannot be performed because young bats are present and not yet capable of flying. Doing exclusion during blackout months can result in dead bats trapped inside the structure and potential legal issues. We know the regulations and handle this correctly.

Exclusion — Sealing Entry Points

This is the most important part of the job. If you don’t seal the entry points after removing the animals, new wildlife will move right in — attracted by the airflow and the scent left behind by previous occupants.

We repair damaged vents, cap chimneys, seal gaps with metal flashing or hardware cloth, and install one-way doors where needed. We use materials wildlife can’t chew through. Spray foam and caulk don’t cut it — squirrels and raccoons will tear through that in minutes.

Clean-Up and Sanitation (When Needed)

Heavy wildlife activity leaves contamination: droppings, urine, destroyed insulation, nesting material. For serious infestations, we offer attic clean-up and sanitation — removing contaminated insulation, disinfecting, and deodorizing. Not every situation requires this, but if you’ve had raccoons living in the attic for months, it’s worth considering. We quote this separately after the inspection.

Why DIY Wildlife Removal Usually Fails

You can buy traps at the hardware store. You might even catch something. But unless you seal the entry points, another animal attracted by the airflow and scent pheromones left behind will move right in. You’ve solved nothing.

Beyond that, handling wildlife is risky — bites, scratches, diseases, and the very real possibility of getting sprayed by a skunk. Some species are legally protected. Remove bats the wrong way or at the wrong time of year and you can face serious legal consequences on top of a structure full of dead bats.

We’re licensed, insured, and trained for this. Save yourself the hassle.

Wildlife Damage — Why Speed Matters

The longer wildlife lives in your attic or crawlspace, the more damage accumulates. Chewed wires create fire hazards. Contaminated insulation loses R-value and spreads odor throughout the house. Damaged ductwork reduces HVAC efficiency. Raccoons can destroy thousands of dollars worth of insulation in just a few weeks.

Deal with it fast and you minimize the damage and the cost.

What’s Legal (and What’s Not) in Texas Wildlife Removal

Some species are protected. Some can be relocated. Some must be dispatched on-site.

Bats — Protected. You can exclude them but not harm them. Timing restrictions apply during maternity season.

Raccoons and squirrels — Can usually be trapped and relocated, with limits depending on distance and county regulations.

Skunks and opossums — Often must be euthanized on-site depending on county regulations.

We follow all state and local laws. You don’t have to worry about the legal side — we handle it.

Preventing Future Wildlife Problems

Once we’ve removed the animals and sealed the entry points, prevention is about maintenance:

Trim tree branches away from the roofline — they’re highways for squirrels and raccoons
Cap your chimney and install vent covers
Repair damaged siding, fascia, and soffits promptly
Don’t leave food sources out — pet food, garbage, and bird feeders all attract wildlife
Seal crawlspace vents with hardware cloth

Wildlife Removal Across East Texas

Wildlife problems are common across our entire service area — Crockett, Palestine, Huntsville, Conroe, and everywhere in between. Rural properties and homes near wooded areas or water see more pressure. Older homes with deferred maintenance are easier targets. We’ve handled wildlife removal on every type of property in this area. We know the local species, their behavior, and what actually works.

Wildlife Removal Costs — What to Expect

Every situation is different. A single squirrel with one entry point costs way less than a family of raccoons with multiple entry points and extensive damage. We give you a clear quote after the inspection that covers trapping, removal, and exclusion work. Clean-up and sanitation, if needed, is quoted separately. No hidden fees. No surprises.
